A few words about us
Our family
Iris olive oil is produced by Christos and Dora Vasiliadis. Christos was born in Athens and Dora was born in a small village near Vonitsa, called Paliambela.
We met in 1979, married in 1983 and the fruit of our great love are our two beautiful children, whom we adore.
Through hard work, great effort, especially by Christos since Dora was busy with the children, not only did we manage to survive, but in 1992 we bought a plot of coastal land in Vonitsa, which Christos had fallen in love with, despite the fact that he was not from the area.
We wanted to plant olive trees. One of Dora’s uncles advised her to plant wild olives, grafted into Koronia olive trees, because they originate from the old times, they are perennial and they produce the best olive oil. As years went by, the olive trees grew in the most natural way and with much loving care, special attention, pruning, weeding and hoeing. We were proud of our olive trees, because our basic principle has been “Never use chemicals”. We were not interested in the quantity of olive oil we could produce, but only in the quality. This is why our oil is probably one of the best olive oils in the world.
Because of the particular variety of ancient wild olives, and because the love in our family comes from the soul and influences everything we do, and maybe also because of the gentle sea breeze which drifts through our olive groves and speaks to our hearts.
